Hi there,

I had this one rejected for the second time and again for quality reasons.

http://www.airliners.net/procphotos/...ilename=20060118_fabirampagain.jpg

I'm a bit disappointed, but maybe there still a chance to get it right. I would like to have your expertise on wether or not this one could actually be saved by someone with better editing skills? Opinions?
The large size is because I just couldn't get the Singapore Airlines titles to look right (not jagged) in a smaller version...

Thanks,

Fabian Gysel

The large size is precisely what the problem is IMO.

Hi Fabian.

I agree with the others that the large size is counting against you as regards quality.

In your position, and looking at the quality in this shot, I would be quite confident that it would be possible to get a smaller edit looking better.

I would be very happy to offer my help with an edit if you would like to see what I could come up with. If you are interested feel free to get in touch with me via my profile. It certainly looks like a striking shot and is worthy of another try.

All the best.

Paul

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your kind offer! I might once more try to get it right all by myself and maybe show it in this thread sometime tomorrow. Depending on comments I would contact you via email if everbody tells me that it just doesn't cut it.

You don't get the SQ 744 to rotate so early in ZRH and I'd love to see in my portfolio on here...

Cheers
FG

Hi Fabian, as said size is not everything. At that size the quality just don't cut it I'm afraid. Paul can give you a very good edit and I might even be tempted to edit it for you (coz Paul is getting on a bit)!!

Cheers .. Jid

Super shot. It's hard to rate it quality wise on the LCD here at work. But on the evident detail, that shot around the 1024 width mark should make it into the database without any hassles at all.

I'd happily give the shot a "5 star" rating!

Hoi Fabian

Nothing better to do on Jan 1?  Wink

Back to the pic: I'm a little bit surprised, that it got a quality rejection. I for one am more distracted by the cropping, as you chopped off part of the engine, which makes it look a tad awkward.

All in all a nice shot IMO.

See you soon on the ramp?  Wink

Gerardo

Hi guys,

Jid and Paul: I just look at your shots on a.net again and you convinced me! I'm sure you can make this one look better than I can with my skills! I'm off for University for the day, but I'll send you a mail tonight if that's alright?

Gerardo: Nothing better to do on Jan 1 yep... Smile Chopping off a part of the engine is a bit awkward I know, but it's due to balance considerations...See you on the ramp (for real) as soon as there is an actiontour! Smile

BTW: It's 9V-SMU, the 1000th 747 built, which also counts against me...

Thanks for your comments guys!

Fabian

All you have to do is resize down to 1024x and upload that version. It's very marginally badquality (but badquality nonetheless) at this size, at 1024 the quality issues won't be visable.

Hi all,

Simply resizing won't do it I guess.

The screener inlcuded a personal message: "engine crop, color aberrations noticeable, unsharp tail and gear..."

Man, tough screener!  Smile

Cheers
Fabian

Great shot Fabian. Good edit Paul. What particular techniques do you use during your editing (or is it top secret)?
