I don't have much (virtually none) experience with sunset shots, this one was taken at a time when I would have usually already left the airport, had not a friend of mine been able to get me into a hangar (You can see a bit of his car in the bottom left corner). This plane is just in front of the hangar, the sun's already behind it. It's also the last picture I took with my old camera, an Olympus Camedia C-300Z (thanks, Santa).
Anyway, how is this shot salvagable, without making it too dark? The first time I uploaded it, it was rejected for jagged (only), now for exposure (though I didn't make any changes to that).

Hi Steve, looks like you should be able to bring it up to standard. The best way to brighten the image up would be to adjust the RGB curve (Ctrl L in PS). The curve profile to brighten this shot up would look like a smile! for want of a better way to describe it. Then I would add a little more saturation and increase the contrast. That might just do it.

Its a big improvement Steve, I think you could get away with a touch more but I would exclude the sky from your adjustments as you run the risk of blowing it out.

Totally agree with Jid. It looks better but would have been better if the sky had been left the way it was. I would crop tighter to the right, perhaps half way long the Citation wing and that should allow the cropping out of the distracting bottom left corner object too.
