Found this site while googling my own name (yea!), and this fella has taken quite a few C-141 a.net pix and put up on his site:

He didn't ask permission from me, but has at least included copyright so I can't be bothered to contact him. Maybe someone can.

what seems to be the officer, problem?

At the bottom of the page is a small print link. Reading this, he does offer to remove any material if requested. Maybe he should remove the page background as it's enough to make you go cross-eyed!  crazy

The webmaster's name is Mike Novack and I had some correspondence with him a while back when he first started the C-141 Heaven website. He contacted me via the Airliners.Net e-mail facility as follows in July 2004:

"I'm an ex c141 pilot and have just started a new web site devoted to the
C141 in all its many flavors. Please see www.c141heaven.com for details.
I noticed you have some pics on airliners.net and was wondering it it would
be possible for us to display those on my new site. airliners.net is a bit
picky about linking to their site and it would much better for my users if
they could see them directly. If you have anything you'd like to
contribute, including things that are not on airliners.net, it would be
great if we could get them for c141heaven."

I was very happy to support Mike's website with a few C-141 photos and my reply included this text:

"Could I respectfully suggest some caution regards usage of photos found on
the internet? If a photo is clearly marked copyright of an individual they
do have every right to expect it not to be used on a website unless their
explicit permission is given first. Posting copyrighted photos is really
asking for trouble (it gives "mad lawyers" an open field to go for you!!)
and your public domain note is effectively saying "I will use your
copyrighted material as I choose unless you catch me out and only then will
I remove it". I have been an amateur aviation photographer for 19 years now
and I watch this argument come up again and again. Oh, and 99% of
photographers will say "yes" when asked!"

It is sad to see that Mike does not appear to have changed his methodology though he does now provide a link to Airliners.Net. Personally I am relaxed about my photos being used because I am a strong C-141 'fan' and I am going to send him the originals of the awful copies on the page that Chris H has linked to. However I do know a couple of the photographers whose photos he has used and they will not be very happy!

Not in any way condoning Mike's copyright actions but I am impressed with the way he has grown the site, he has put a *lot* of work into it over the last 18 months.

Here is his disclaimer :

:...If you see something that is yours and it is not properly credited, please contact me by email before putting your lawyer on me. We can work something out. If you aren't willing to share your information or if I can't provide credit for your material in a way that makes you satisfied any such material will be removed. I'm doing this web site out of love and respect for a great airplane, and mad lawyers are not welcome here in C141 Heaven (and probably not in the BIG heaven, of which C141 Heaven is only a small department). I to will be sending him some pics, I'm an ex-141 FE, but he should have asked first.

He asked me for several so I contributed. I dont see anything wrong with that formula.
