Now we are very close to reach the big corner stone: photo ID:1000000! I know some pictures have been removed through the years so the number of photos is not 1000000, but who will be the lucky guy who gets this magic number attached to his photo?
My closest ID-number will be 0999955

Congratulations Frank Duarte and to A.net for reaching this milestone! A nice photo taken by a very deserving photographer. Now let's see who will be the second lucky one to break the 1,000,000 photos in the database.

Yah...we reached the number quicker than I expected. I think it is a good sign that the photo which reached the magic number was an ordinary one, and was not specially selected by the screeners! Congatulations to Frank Duarte. He surely deserves it.

Absolutely fantastic to see a Frank get ID 1000000!!!!!!!!
It's a golden oldie too which is testament to how this site has evolved since ID 1! Who would have thought such a high quality scan like Frank's would have been possible way back when airliners.net started? Certainly not me!
So now it's on to the next milestone, the 1,000,000th photo!

Congrats, Frank! Not too far from a million photos now.
On a side note, is it really possible that almost 45,000 photos have been deleted throughout A.net's history, or has the large difference between photo ID and the actual numbers been caused by something else as well?
