Hey guys, this is one of my first posts into uploading photo on airnet. Can some of the veterans here shade some light about how to sharpen pictures properly. This photo was taken at the Asian Aerospace yesterday with the D70s, 80-200mm ED F2.8 at LARGE FINE setting but still is a bit soft and grainy (because of a crop) for photos here i think.

Does the photo have enough potential to upload?

Angle is cool, but that's about it. I'd pull it, there's too much grain, it's too soft, and you uploaded it at 1600 wide, it's also not very well lit. Badquality I'm afraid.

I love the angle, added to my personal collection.

If you upload it in a smaller resolution (1024?) it might help. If this photo doesn't make it on, I'm sure it would be appreciated on other sites.

The angle is lovely, but I think it would be rejected for NOA_center, NOA_soft, NOA_quality. Try a closer crop and also downsizing it to either 1024 or 1280 pixels wide. Did you already run USM over it in Photoshop? Let me know if you need any help just contact me via my profile.

Cheers,
Sebastian

Thank you for all the tips. it was poor framing to beginning with, thus my crop is a compromised one.

I have tried cropping it to a 1024px wide with the height reduced to keep the subject centre. Trying my luck again after i master the USM tool...what is the kind of predetemined levels and settings does one use in USM?

You can easily improve this image just for your personal photo book.

There is still some room to play with your levels, and you can remove some of the noise, but I am not sure you will ever reach the quality..

Outstanding shot BTW.. I first thought it was a drawing, or a paint. Really impressive!

Unfortunately the image is not Airliners.net material no matter how much you process it.

Best dump the image or keep for your own collection.
