Darn Andre I missed you by a day! I was at Founder's plaza Saturday shooting with Matt B and Matt M, both members here and DFW locals. We had a great time! I love that spot. When they taxi right past you it's great! I got a couple that look like they are good enough for here but the sun was behind the clouds 80% of the time so it you had to take what you could get when it was shining. Plus heat haze is tough there. It was warm in Dallas on Saturday! You should definately get to know these guys, they are good men and love to shoot. I am coming back to town in the fall or early winter so we should plan a mini meet at that spot.
As for your photo, I like it. I am not sure what the screeners would think of the angle but you may have been better served not to have the pickup truck in the foreground and a little more of a side on angle with the airport buildings in the background. I tried to get a total side on with that Delta building as a backdrop. If it looks good after edit I will shot you.

I was there on Saturday as well all morning, and until about 2pm when I went to the LH cargo area to catch BA, which I did but then I missed LH on the other runway. There were a couple of guys chatting at the end of the parking lot, about 3-4 spaces of where I was parked. One wearing a Thai 777 t-shirt and shooting with a Nikon and a long lense of sorts and driving a Maxima with NY plates, the other guy also had a Nikon (I think) but was dressed slightly more formal. In case either one of those was you, I was the guy with shaggy hair standing to your left when all those planes rolled by us. BTW, my girlfriend said some kid on the NW A319 flipped us off, did you witness this? I can't see it in any of my shots.
Vas, thanks for your input as well. That's a nice shot of your NW A319, do you think perhaps if I only applied more saturation, contrast, and sharpening to the 738 and left the truck be, would it stand a chance then?

I dunno ..I might fear a Bad Editing rejection... Its the shape i'm worried...not the color...
I did try to crop it a bit to get the 738 into CofA...but dunno if it could be a worth a try...
And guys...I'm a a DFW spotter too... Lemme know when you guys meetup...

That was me! I wish you would have come over. It would have been great to meet you. From your description and time that had to be Matt B with me. He works for AE and had to leave at 1:30. Matt M showed up later and we shot as well.

I actually don't. Then again I only saw the a couple of pilots wave and didn't pay any attention to the pax. That was very rude!
I can't wait to get back to DFW with a couple of days just to shoot, we can do DFW, Love field and Matt M works at ADS so we are going to shoot there. Let's work on puttting something together. Could be a great time.
Quoting VasanthD (Reply 2): I was lucky enough to catch this pic...with the service vehicle behind the Bus...
Great shot! I love that motive, I wish the sun was more cooperative that day I could have gotten more shots. I love that spot! If they are landing 35C it's great and if they are landing 17L you get the taxi shots!

Yeah I was the "very formal" guy! Matt Bartle. I was dressed for work...went to work at 1:30pm. I work for American Eagle. Some folks at work were wondering how I managed to get sunburned between working a night shift on Friday night and before Saturday night!
Are you out there often or were you just visiting? I should have said hi, because I stopped by at like 9am on Sunday on my way to the airport to catch a flight to LAS, and I recognized you. I just stopped for a minute or two.

I was just visiting for the weekend. I wish it wasn't as hot and the lighting was a little better, especially on Saturday morning. I'll probably be back during the late fall/early winter, perhaps we should arrange a meet of some kind then.
As for the sunburn, I also encountered that problem, and I'm starting to peel today. I think I learned the lesson of bringing at least a hat of some sort for these outings.
While we're on the DFW topic, is the LH cargo area an acceptable spotting place or is one risking a visit from the police there? We sort of got some nasty looks from a couple of folks in there after a while so we left.
