Screeners Prescreen On The Maxjet Please

Hi Guys.

Shot Maxjet airways' second plane today. N260MY. I don't see a pic of her in the DB. I want your advice on my crop and edit. I feel it's centered and I like the crop. I was able to keep both landing gear in the frame and I feel I sharpened it enough. What do you guys think?

Regardless of the rareness of it, I can't see it being accepted.

Way too soft and the quality is just not there sorry.

I think it's rather soft, or blurry, especially around the nose area. As for the crop, I think you should have included the whole tail section. It looks unbalanced to my eye.

LOL....do you ever just upload without asking for a "screener's prescreen"? If everyone did this, where would the queue be?

If my posts bother you then don't read them. To answer your question about the queue it would probably be a lot better off.

Yes but the forum would be an ugly place to visit..

Back to the topic, the photo is soft, to some extent blurry and in my opinion not a great crop, a little tight, cutting off the bottom of the tail is the killer for me, widen the crop out a little. There is a big difference between a tight composition and bits that just didn't fit.

Oh and I am someone that likes these tightly cropped close-ups--

I don't think it's board clutter JeffM is complaining about.

No offense intended, but it does seem a little abusive to get every upload pre-screened while others pre-screen their own shots.
With that said, I'll certainly admit to have done it in the past, myself.

Whatever the case I really do not care. The threads title read "Screeners" not people like Jeff to give their opinion on my posting habits.

Let's see,

I have uploaded 20-25 pics in the last month and asked advice on I think 3 of them. Unless I am blind that is not every upload. If you want to moderate the forum they were looking for mods a little while back. You could have signed up. I am not abusing anything.

It seems soft and there is some grain under the wings. I'm sorry to say that, but I doubt it will make it. This conclusion is based on observations from my own experience with submissions here. The quality really has to be top notch, and I have yet to get my first photo accepted into DB .
Still learning and trying to improve my technique and PP.  Smile

Oleg.

You have 3 threads like this on the front page alone, so I think the comment is valid. Besides, if his posts bother you then don't read them.

PS., remember the anti-gripe thread? I sure hope this doesn't turn ugly.

If someone's sense of accomplishment annoys you I suggest you don't open the threads. It seems quite simple to me. I haven't seen that many to justify your claim either.

I for one would stop visiting a forum that had several hundred plus "is this any good?" posts

Last year there was quite a discussion about congratulatory and self-congratulatory threads, I believe the consensus was that they should be limited to significant acheivements eg 1000 photos, 1,000,000 views type thing. This latest trend towards.. Show us your latest photo.. or what was your first upload is trivial and not really required.. IMHO

I do notice Nik that you asked for comment, several people have responded with their thoughts.. you have chosen to ignore or at least not acknowledge those comments... but then as they are not "screeners" they do not, in your eyes, deserve that acknowledgement

Chris

Not really a given....because this site will accept a backlit inaugural flight shot but reject other "special" shots. Little consistency.....I agree best to check sometimes.

one thing has nothing to do with the other...Sam's A380 shot was probably the most anticipated since this sites inception, don't even know why you bothered to drag that up in this thread!

The question was .. what if everyone did this?

That is a question along the lines of "What if my mother had a penis?" "She would be my father" kind of thing. My thread asked the advice of the screeners on a picture. It didn't ask for some useless hypothetical question from someone who has too much time on their hands.

Quoting StealthZ (Reply 12):

Actually I feel your first upload is quite an achievment. I agree we don't need the 50 or 100 pics in the DB thing but your first acceptance is a nice milestone.

Quoting StealthZ (Reply 12):
I do notice Nik that you asked for comment, several people have responded with their thoughts.. you have chosen to ignore or at least not acknowledge those comments... but then as they are not "screeners" they do not, in your eyes, deserve that acknowledgement

Not true at all, more spin. I pulled the photo already. The reason I ask screeners for comment is they are the final word and would see something most others wouldn't. I don't ignore advice from anyone, though I like to only trust certain non-screeners here. Which is my right and choice.

Quoting JeffM (Reply 13):

I don't know Chris but as far as you are concerned, I don't care for people like you. If you have nothing to contribute but a comment that is whining at best then save it. We don't need it. If you need something to ocupy your time go get a dog or a metal detector and go look for coins at the beach.

Quoting JeffM (Reply 13):

Very true, everyone here knows anet's policy toward having lower standards for very rare shots. Which is neither here nor there.

I think you are digging yourself a hole here.

Wow a little touchy aren't we? No need for a personal attack, just because I made the observation you seem to ask for a lot of pre-screening help? Must have hit a nerve from the looks of it. I have nothing to contribute? You call these threads or yours a contribution?

Guys, this place is getting worse and worse with threads like this. It has taken alot more effort to bitch to each other rather than take a deep breath, bite your lip(if you have to and need to), and give a sensible response. Jav hit it on the head. This place needs to lighten up! Dont get your knickers in a twist!

Have a think about what you are tryin to achieve on this site. Work in favour of that

They are the final word when they SCREEN your photos.
I have been following this thread and it is getting out of hand but I must admit I agree with Jeff. It does get annoying after some time. Many people may not like his comments, because he always tells it like it is which I admire.
