Hi.

I just got a Battery which I bought on eBay and would like to know if it's a fake or not as everything is a bit suspicious. I will post the pics of my original and the new one below. In general they look the same but some numbers on them are different. Also the colors of the stickers are slightly different. I know that can be cause by various reasons but I would like to know if it's a fake or not. If you have the time look up on your original Canon battery NB-2LH. Maybe I'm wrong but at the moment I'm not trusting this ebay shop.

The new bought

Thanks for your help.

If it works does it matter? I use non official batteries in my 10D and they work better than the canon ones as they are rates at a higher capactiy.

My 1d batteries are all canon though, however i am tempted by the black diamond ones.

It looks like it yes.

Then stick to using genuine authorised Canon dealers.

Almost certainly a fake.
Well done, you have saved yourself a fortune and they are perfectly okay. My ersatz ones all perform better than the genuine Canon ones.

Just like the others here, I also have 2 third party batteries. I got them off ebay for $9 CDN, and I also purchased a charger off him for about $15. If it also works, why spend 7x the price?

I don't doubt if they work (had no time to try out already), I just want to know if they are real and don't flame up my Camera.

I'll do so in the future...but they aren't that cheap.

I got cheap batteries and they work fine. I don't think they will have an effect on the camera.  Smile

I'm not talking about cheap batteries harming my camera, I just want to know if this particular battery is a faked one or an original.

That's what i thought Mick, my trusty clones from Chinese origin always worked flawless with my 10D.
However when i switched to the 20D with a new type of charger it was all over as this charger only accepts genuine Canon batteries.
