Hi all!
I got a photorequest from an agency planning an advertising-campaign for an airline. They want to use one of my photos for the following prupose:
Outdoor-ads (billboards etc.) and ads in magazines and newspapers over the period of 6 months.
They do not (yet?) have any more specific details, so I'll have to base my price-quote on these facts. Now my question to those of you guys with a little more experience in selling their photos (so far I've only had very few and considerably smaller sales): How much would you ask for when giving them a fair price (not at the top of the possibly reachable scale) but without giving away too much.
As they want a quick answer (as always...) any quick help is highly appreciated!
Best regards,
Mike

Quoting Javibi (Reply 1): To me it sounds like it could be big money...
Thanks for your rapid reply, Javier! This is what I am kind of hoping, too. Just having finished university, some extra-bucks would be more than welcome.
Any other comments on what do do or what price-range to expect/ask for?

Hey Mike,
Air Canada wanted to use one of my picture last year and I felt a bit like you. I didn't know how much to ask for the use of my picture.
For that reason, I emailed them back and asked them to make me an offer (as Javier wrote previously), telling them I was "new in the business" and that I didn't really know how much to ask . I finally got much more than what I originally thought I would get. Being honest paid off for me in that particular occasion.

Okey, thanks for your help guys. I decided to do as Javier and Alex suggested and asked them to make an offer. So now let's wait and see what happens...
Cheers,
Mike

Hi Michi,
congrats on the deal.
Make sure that their offer doesn't leave any questions on the photo policy. Pricing will be different for a picture that an agency
a) just uses with one campaign
b) takes into their corporate identity pool (--> it will be re-used, maybe for other clients as well)
c) buys from you along with the copyright etc.
I had a similar request from an agency based in Stuttgart last year, only for an A380 picture. They showed great interest at first, but then at one point never emailed back. Was very tough to make up a pricing for this segment, plus their office seemed a bit messed up (they named the price they would pay first, and asked how much I would generally charge in the second e-mail... )
Hope you have better luck!

Hej Lukas!
Thanks for your reply. So far I haven't heared back from them after having asked them what they would offer. So maybe I'm up for the same fate than you... Or I will just have to be a little more patient. I'll keep you posted.
Cheers,
Mike
