I was searching A.net for some photos of a particular aircraft that I would like to upload, and ran across two photos that I took during the airshow. Unfortunately, they are not listed under my name, but under the name of another potographer that I might have given some of my pictures to as a courtesy and as a memory of the event. If these are in-fact, my photos, how do I contact someone on the site regarding copyright infringment and what do I need to prove that they are mine. I have the original raw photos (including all the others in the series) as well as all of the imbedded information regarding camera type/settings. I am quite angry about this and feel like I was stabbed in the back by someone who I was trying to be nice to.

Hi Jeff,
Sorry to hear about your issue. If I were you, I would first contact the **Unofficial Photographer** and discuss the issue. If I'm not able to make proper contact with the Unofficial Photographer, I would contact the Screeners with suitable evidence to ensure proper action. But imagine this...I can still obtain RAW files from someone and claim them as mine... So better have additional evidence such as other pics taken from same cam same day/time...
As for the legal copyright infringement stuff, I don't know if A.net deals with that. I believe the best thing they can do is remove the photos.

Well I just got back to my appartment and compared the photos side-by-side and they are, in fact, my pictures. I am in the process of contacting him and asking him to remove the photos. Once he does so, I will upload them under my name, the actual potographer who took the photos. I am VERY upset about this and if he refuses, I will be in contact with the screeners. The only thing I am worried about is that when I re-upload it, it gets rejected!
Do anyone else have any advise on some additional ways of handling this situation. I'm sure its not the first case, but it sure makes me upset/cautious about who I give my pictures to...

Jeff does the same photographer owes the same camera as you owe?I think they should have an EXIF data here ?Right?Wrong???
If he uses another camera and these shots shows different data for the particular ones you're talking about then probably you have a good advantage!!
what do you think?I very sorry for these kind of things, once happened to me over here too I must say(speaking for myself) that here you dont find any support on these things at least I did not find maybe others found.
I think there should be someone who can take care a deal on these kind of stuff who can contact both sides .......

Quoting Jcf5002 (Thread starter): they are not listed under my name, but under the name of another potographer that I might have given some of my pictures to as a courtesy and as a memory of the event
Jeff, I am not questioning whether you compared your and the other guy's pictures correctly, however it seems like you are not 100% sure you actually gave the two photos to that particular person. If - as you say - took the pictures at an airshow there is still the possibility that someone else took more or less the exact same shot while standing anywhere near you. I myself have already run across photos that were taken at the exact same time at more or less the exact same place...

I'm not sure, where would I find this information here on A.net? I know my info is embedded in the raw file and can be accessed from iPhoto. If I recall correctly, he was using either a small Canon or a Nikon. Mine is a Konica Minolta DiMage Z2 and I had the biggest camera in my group.

I see your point and would be skeptical myself. Unfortunately, I was working the airshow at the time and was in places where other people wouldn't be. He was also working the show (we're both Civil Air Patrol) but I know for a fact that we were in different squads and were on different parts of the airfield. Not to have an excuse for every one of your comments, but I compared the pictures by making them the same size and overlapping them in Photoshop: They line up pixel for pixel. As for the camera issue that I started before, I am positive that he was using a different one than me and that I transferred a couple of my pis to his via my SD card, so it would have my camera info embedded into it.
I haven't gotten a reply from him yet and if I don't get one by the end of the week I am posting the pictures on here and contacting the screeners. The part that pisses me off now is that he has the photo sales option selected and, frankly, did a crappy editing job on them. Regardless, this is a matter of stealing and disrespect. I would feel differently if I had dozens of photos on here, but as of now, my total is 3. I'll give anyone who asks all the proof they want, but I hope this gets resolved as cleanly and quickly as possible.

JeffM:
You're right, it doesn't matter if I had 500 photos instead of 3, the principle of the matter stays the same. My point was that those two photos potentially represent 40% of the total photos that I could have in the database.
As for the resolvement of this issue, are you saying that I am Sh!t-out-of-luck and need to bend over and take it?
I agree that it could be a mistake, and said so in my letter to him. In the letter I gave him the benefit of the doubt and was very polite. I was naive at the time to give out raw images of my photos, but also at the time, I was oblivious to A.net's presence and had no initial intention of uploading the pics. Now that generosity has bitten me in the @ss.
I appreciate your degredation of the issue with your "mine is bigger" comment. I was mearly pointing out that because of the amount of zoom needed for the shots, it would have been more likely that I would have taken the shots than him. I had a much higher amount of optical zoom than he did.
I don't know what the intentions of your comment were, but they came off nasty and uncalled for, although I do now get you're "protection" joke. I'm tired and frustrated so I am sorry if I seem nasty. I just feel cheated, am I wrong to be?
