I agree with Jeff about the motive but not the quality. Can't see anything wrong with it that couldn't be fixed with some selective sharpening and maybe tweaking of levels. What equipment do you use? You don't have to have a DSLR to get photos accepted, though obviously it helps. I've got over 200 here that I took with a point-and-shoot.

Thanks guys.
I'm using a Fuji Finepix S5500 with a basic UV filter. Software-wise I've got Photoshop CS2. I think I can do a better job of this in terms of quality (as you say, selective sharpening amongst other things) and the colour balance could probably be better.
Do you think the motive - which I can't do much about due to the original shot - is an instant disqualifier?

Didn't want to start a new thread, so I'll post here. I'm having some monitor issues in that I edited this shot at home on what is probably not such a good screen. Now at work the image looks a little too dark. What do you guys think?

I agree, the Quality looks quite ok on the first one but could improve in some spots. But I'm no pro!
The second one, levels are fine according to the CS2 Histogram. I'd try messing with the Shadow/Highlight feature without causing grain to show. It may not work but give it a go. May brighten things up a tad, but well on the way to a good shot that one.
Oh and a few jaggies starting to appear, around the tops of the engines, flap areas and cockpit windows.
