As some of you may know, there was a posting last week from Spook about taking pictures at ORF. Well, he and I did get together this past Sunday for a good four-hour session.
In all, I took around 250 pictures (many including a chain link fence). But the real treat was the chance to spend time with a fellow photographer, and a very good one at that. Those of you that know David, especially at Prestwick, can speak to his marvelous personality and experience, and he does know how to take good pictures. He gave me several tips on taking better pictures, which I will undoubtedly put into use the next time I go out.
Now, we did get to meet the airport police again, but this time, it was a lot more pleasant meeting. They simply checked our IDs and took down our information, as they were responding to a call about someone taking pictures with long lenses. They were very genial guys, and one even gave me the name of someone to contact at the airport's admin office next time I wanted to take pictures, that way they had a heads-up.
All in all, a very positive experience. It is one that I hope will be repeated many time in the future. I also hope that at least one picture from that day will make it into the a.net database, as it would be my first one.
Again, I want to say that it was an honor and a privilege to spend time with David, as I had quite a good time. Should any of you ever find yourselves in the area near ORF, please don't hesitate to let me know, as I will only be too happy to come out and spot with you.
