Sorry if its been said, don't have time for a proper search. Apparently one of the largest helicopters in the world, capable of loads close to that of a C-130 Hercules, is heading our way. The airport manager of Whitehorse International Airport was on the radio today, saying it was coming from eastern Russia through Alaska, the Yukon and part of Alberta, (including a stop here in Whitehorse) on its way to somewhere in Alberta.

Might make a good photo for anyone along the route. Sorry I have to leave for school soon and don't have time to research the other stops; am just passing on what I heard on the radio.

Thanks, I'll look for it after supper. I made this one in a rush before heading out, checked the top several on the list at the time and didnt see anything and didn't have time to search properly.

A red and white Mi-26 with a Canadian registration passed through Luxembourg (ELLX) last month. I was too far away to get a shot but read the reg. with my 400mm zoom.

Probably the same one ...

Was delayed a day and came through late yesterday afternoon. Half of Whitehorse was out there to see it (bigger crowd than the last airshow I'd say), and I found myself sitting in a row of other photographers, with pretty much atleast one of everything from your standard little pocket sized oldish film camera to your big tripod with a 12 megapixle and a lens longer than my arm parked on it. (Almost was druling over that rig). Was just massive for a helicopter. At one point a little 2 seater chopper of some sort flew right over it and parked next to it, that little thing was practically nothing compared to the big one.

Hey Viv: could you post an image of it here on the forum? I'd love to see that one  Smile

No, sorry. It was partly obscured and very distant. I took no shots. It was being towed by a tractor and the rotor blades had been removed.

on its way to somewhere in Alberta.

Any more details? It would be nice if it stopped in YEG.
