I just had three photos rejected for "category." Since the only category I chose was "Hybrid," I am wondering whether the rule that was posted on January 19, 2006 by "Invader" has changed: Categories "Special" And "Hybrid" (by Invader Jan 19 2006 in Aviation Photography)

The planes in question are these three:

Or why does the category "hybrid" not apply to these?

I dont' recall if there was ever a final decision on that previous post but I have to say that a CO Express ERJ and DL ERJ in full current livery would not and should not be clasified as a HYBRID.

I do however consider the UP Dash to be a hybrid since it does not display either the old Dash livery or the new B737 livery. It is a hybrid, IMO. Of course, if they started to repaint all of the Dash 8's in that livery then it would become a standard livery and no longer hybrid.

Hmmm. Very interesting. Until I read the link to that thread that you supplied, I never would have thought regional carriers such as Delta Connection and Us Airways Express would be considered "Hybrid"

Those types of aircraft represent a big chunk of what I see at my airport and take photos of. I've always just used the regular default settings and have not checked any special categories for these.

I have not received any category rejects. Just the usual quality/blurry rejects.

In my opinion, those regional carriers are so common that there is no need to check a special box for them.

I would even agree with that, but I was, in good faith, following the rule set by a database editor.

I would appeal, because you are 100% right about "Hybrid" in this case..

maybe you should add the link to that post if possible!

Good luck

Deciding that regionals are considered hybrid was a dumb move in the first place, and if anything it just caused more confusion about what boxes to check.

There is a complete lack of consistency regarding special paints / hybrids. Based on my rejections I figured that Ryanair "Say No to BA.." is a special paint while Ryanair "City of Nykoping" is a hybrid  Confused

Both special, aka "colorful_paint".

Head screener rejecting my appeal wrote personal message that City of Nykoping was a hybrid. I suggest that editors and screeners discuss those hybrid/colorful issues to make it more consistent. I had more examples like the one above recently.
