There are multiple spotting areas at LAX and BUR. I spot at both quiet a bit. For LAX the spots are as follows:
1. Imperial Hill - In El Segundo off of Imerial Highway.
2. Flight Path Museum - Also off Imerial Highway, but not open to spot at all that often.
3. The Proud Bird Resturaunt Parking Lot - Off of Aviation Blvd if I am not mistaken.
4. Cargo Area near 25R - Although not an official spot, good shots can be had from here, just be ware of security.
5. In n Out Burger - On Sepulveda near Westchester
6. Westchester Pkwy - Also prone to security coming up to you, you can get some good arrival shots with a long lens here.
7. Any of the various hotels on Century - Some are spotter friendly some are not, same goes with the parking garages.

BUR
1. The top of the parking garage.
2. On either Vanowen (33 arrivals) or Vineland (8 arrivals) yuo can stand by the fence. I suggest calling Burbank PD to let them know you will be there first. I have been stopped multiple times there, but they were always ok once I explained things. I call before now and they don't have any problems.
3. Near the threshold of Runway 15 there is a spot by the fence. I can't recall the streets right now. Cops are usually around though, and it is not a spotter friendly place.

Send me an email or message if you ever want to go spotting or need further info.

-Matt

read reply 3...i was in LA not to long ago and used all the places mentioned on the map/website and by WakeTurbulance, that suggests to me that the map is still quite valid.

Proud Bird they will throw off almost as soon as they see you sit for more than 5 minutes without getting out of a car to go into the restaurant.

I don't know if you are joking or not, but if you aren't that is the biggest load of BS. Just because it has happened to you does not mean it is standard practice. I have been there more times than I can count and have NEVER been approached by anyone to move. Even police have sat and chatted with me while they take a break. Please don't generalize based on an experience.

Really, I shot at Proud Bird and had no problem whatsoever. Can't imagine they would hassle aviation enthusiasts.

I've never had a problem spotting @ Proud Bird . They do/did have port-a-pots at one time there .

Part of the Proud Bird parking lot is used from time to time as an overflow to the Long Term 'B' parking when that gets full. When this is the case, you WILL be ejected, but it doesn't happen that often and can usually be predicted in advance - Thanksgiving, Xmas and other holiday dates. Otherwise not a problem.

When I spot at Proud Bird, I park and walk in to get shots from the yard. I also walk down Aviation Blvd. to under the 25L approach path to get some cool overhead shots like you would get over by In n' Out.

I found this site a while back. Looks like a good guide to me. Even has frequencies.

We spotted at the Proud Bird back in March on two occasions and had no troubles.

cheers,
Phil
