Just been looking back at some shots from earlier in the year and came across these two taken at Dusk/Sunset. Not really done much in this type of light and never uploaded to a.net. I personally like the shots with the sunset effect on the white. I want to share them on a.net however I'm unsure/unexperienced with this type of shot and the light/contrast as theres a big difference between the upper white and lower fuselage due to the light source. Please comment away....

Hi Ian.

I really like the close crop motive here, which works particularly well for the imposing form of the 777 shot.

Personally I would be worried about both of them because of the dark underbelly. I would be very interested to see what the 777 shot would look like with those levels enhanced somewhat. But I recognise this might leave you feeling the shot is less true to the reality of the dusk time. But I reckon it will look better.

The Airbus shot is slightly more contentious for me because the rear area looks very slightly soft to my eye.

Both very nice shots though. I hope we can see an alternate edit of the 777.

All the best.

Paul

I agree the Airbus lacks a little something compared to the triple. You hit the nail on the head when you say about the dark underbelly, that was my concern but this is how the shot is as the sun is coming from the 10-11 o'clock position at this time of day.
I'll give it another go, you might find out you have new mail

I think this one looks a bit washed out

Hi Ian

I agree with Paul, the close crop is good but the underside is too dark.

The edited version looks noisey although better than the darker images.

Sorry I did not get back to you yesterday I was at Southend getting sun burnt! If you want me to have a go at processing then post me a copy.

regards

Kevin

Thanks Kevin, Paul

I think I'm fighting a losing battle here between making it lighter and noise. Parked these shots for now maybe come back to them again when I've read up on reducing noise properly.

Hi Ian

The problem is when you lighten any image you will see more noise so its a viscous circle.
