Being a pedant, military aircraft have Serials, civil ones registrations !

Quoting Dendrobatid (Reply 2):

...and US Navy aircraft have BUNOs. (Bureu Numbers). The numbers on the nose are called the MODEX.

Paul, I was the original uploader of this aircraft to the database and to the very best of my knowledge she is Bu.No 155563. Several on-line sources confirm this, cannot remember whether the Valiant Air Command Museum web site lists their aircraft in detail or not.

As a rule US Navy and Marines Phantoms are easy to tie up because they normally wear the 'last four' numbers of their Bu.No on the upper fuselage just ahead of the tail fin, or on the fin itself. Unless the aircraft is an F-4A or a fairly early model F-4B (of which none were converted to F-4N) the Bu.No will be 15xxxx. The early 14xxxx numbered Phantoms tend to be pretty rare now.

Can I say 'nice photo' and hope it makes the database, you have caught that typical Phantom drooping nose very nicely  Smile

And now I can't help myself, a few Phantoms...
