Hi all,

I don't understand why this shot qualifies for a motive rejection. Would appreciate some input ...

It just looks badly composed. Can't really say much else about it. The way the engine is framed just doesn't look right. indifferent

A great shame as what would otherwise be a superb photograph is spoiled.............
by the window frame in the bottom left corner.
Inevitable motive rejection.

OK, thanks for your input.  crying

Unfortunately 737 windows are not large enough for a 10mm lens. Next time I will take a power saw with me and make my window a bit wider.  liar

Or you could sit a bit closer to the wing - it will be a little bit less stress for the other passengers  Wink

This time it is the incomplete engine intake and, I think the window has just made it into the extreme bottom left corner which shows as a very out of focus light corner.

Hi Phil,

I was one of the many screeners that screened the second shot. To your credit the quality was enough that it was considered good enough on quality to be accepted. Unfortunately (and explanation in my words) with the engine and wing so far to the left side, and with no additional interest balancing the right side, it was considered motive.

My recommendation for window shots is to ensure that you capture shots at a time where you're including something of interest. We've all seen clouds and trees; we love it especially when we see airports and the like.

Bottom line is your shot was not a clear one to reject or accept.

Keep up the good work.

Glenn

It's pretty grainy and the guy's wig on the left doesn't do much for it either.

I was thinking the view outside the cockpit was blown (overexposed), not to mention the brown visor on the right kinda jacks things up a little (IMO, of course).

I would say no. You could always darken the backlighting if the cockpit windows are too bright but the crop doesn't look right to me. Too much space on the left. Plus it's still grainy around the dark areas.

Phil, what is causing that ugly green color cast? It is clearly visible on the pilot's seat back, but not the other.

To overcome the blown out view out the windscreen, you need to bring in light in an amount greater then the outside, then expose to that value or 1/3 to 1/2 stop above to make the inside lighter then the outside.

I have no idea. I think it's some kind of reflection coming from something green behind the captain's seat. It's visible on all pictures, so it can't be a camera/lens problem. Thanks for the heads-up though.

You are right, but it seems to be good enough for A.net ... Big grin
