Hi Gurus,

first off, floods suck. But the intense weather we're having has left us with lots of atmospheric effects with the planes landing at National. So, I took a swing by Gravelly Point on my way home yesterday, and this is what I found. LOTS of vortices trailing! Some 757s left trains of vortices that lasted nearly a whole minute after the plane had already landed!

Anyway, here are 5 of the shots (more on the way). If anyone has thoughts on improvements, I'd welcome your comments. Thanks in advace!

Damon

Hi Damon,

Always difficult conditions to shoot with, you've managed quite well though I dont think and are up to the quailty needed. Perhaps the AA 738, though i'd say that more PP will kill it.

Thanks Colin! These were all shot in RAW, so I could re-edit them from scratch. Can you say what in particular should I pay more attention to?

Combining the dark US airways livery and the dark conditions will be hard. Especially to avoid noise etc.

I would say work on the AA 738, give the contrast a kick with it too and a slightly tighter crop

Here are a couple more shots from that day.

This last one is just for fun - not looking to get this accepted (unless you know some miracle editing). I was shocked this plane attempted to land. The next 3 went around. Note the wall of water this plane met at the threshold - believe it or not, it wasn't raining where I stood.

I like that last one - good one!

You have done well considering the conditions. I agree that maybe working with the lighter coloured aircraft rather than the dark US aircraft, you will have less noise to deal with.
