I had a shot of a B737 taken from the same spot that was rejected... so I'm somewhat apprehensive about uploading this one. What do y'all think? Improvements and what not... Thanks!

And also this one... taken the same day. I don't feel it's quite there quality wise; do y'all have and suggestions on it? Thanks again!

The FedEx is over-sharpened but I love the C17.  Smile

Love the angle on the C-17, but it looks a little too dark for me.

Alright guys. Thanks for the help. I have another one for you, if you don't mind...

Just had this one rejected for quality. I was pretty confident this would get in because a C-17 at SAT is pretty rare... but oh well. haha. Y'all think it's worth the appeal? Or if not, can I improve the quality at all? Thanks so much.

Not that I'm an expert at all, but there appears to be a bit of heat haze around the wings on the rear shot of the C17, maybe that was it?

I think it is heat distortion from the engines that did for this C-17 shot. This kind of angle is always really hard to get right, for that very reason.

I think the FedEx MD11 and Head-on c17 are fine, but use the levels or curves tool to give them a bit more punch. Remember that a little contrast can help improve the perception of sharpness too.

What makes you think they will take it.
Its not as easy to get shots on there of late getting as hard as here i think.
Work on getting the quality up and if not leave for the personal collection.
Cheers

Mike, the first C17 shot looks OK to me, but slightly dark. You might be able to do something with that. The DC10 is slightly oversharpened, particularly on the underside. Is there some haze there too? Some edges seem a little wobbly.

Regards,

Tim.

Hey Jim...

I'm sorry. What I said came across as being somewhat derogatory, and I didn't inted it to be. Lately I have been taking the rejects from Anet that I really like and uploading them to JPnet as a last attempt to get them some exposure online. So far, I have 100% acceptance ratio. I adore this shot, so as a last ditch effort I'm gonna give JPnet a go. Sorry for miswording that originally.

Thanks again for all the help guys. I'm still adjusting to the 100-400L IS I got about a month ago... lately I've been having trouble getting the sharpness correct. So I really do appreciate all this...

Mike i went from a very sharp 70-200 to the 100-400 and it took me a little to adjust .
It gives the impression that the shots are a little softer especially over the 300mm end.
But as soon as you get the hang of it you will love it.
All the best for the future shooting with the lens.
Cheers

Mate, what an awesome photograph !!

I can't comment on quality or the other criteria they look for here, as I am only a beginner at this game.

If this shot is rejected on A.net - then, why don't you try a series of major aviation magazines in order to gauge their interest? Possibly even the USAF public relations people might take an interest? Who knows, but it's worth a try and you may even make a $$ out of it?

I have had a couple of fairly amateurish (becuase that's what I am) images posted in a major Australian Aviation magazine and they generously gave me a 12 month subscription for my efforts!  Smile

Once again - great photo mate !

It is, and this is the important thing to remember. A.net does have extremely high technical standards; this is a good thing, that's a.net's niche in the online DB market and you buy in to that when you upload here. That being said, if a shot doesn't meet the criteria here, it's nothing to be despondant about - stick it in your own gallery, print it and mount it on your wall, or try elsewhere. Above all, keep having fun!

James
