Hybrid category yes or no because of the small sticker?
9 of the 30 have colorful selected
3 of the 30 have hybrid selected
and the rest doesn't have any of the 2 categories.

What is correct on this registration? Does the small sticker qualify this bird for the hybrid section?
Maybe the editors can answer this
Thanks

Peter

It should be special/colorful..

Categories "Special" And "Hybrid" (by Invader Jan 19 2006 in Aviation Photography)

HYBRID

This category will now be for all-white, hybrid, mixed, non-standard and not-own colourschemes, of airliners only.

SPECIAL

This category will now be for special one-off colour schemes, or for special, mostly temporary, markings.

For civil aircraft the category is only for airliners that satisfy the following conditions:
- when they have a colourscheme that commemorates or announces something like...
- this also applies to aircraft that have the announcement very small (in fact all variations between the two extremes are existing and to prevent endless discussions they shall all be listed in this category, even when they only have a small sticker)....

Some irrelevant bits cut out.

Tom

That's true Tom. My mistake, apologies ... Waking up before posting would be a great idea.  Smile

Quoting Jaspike:
The editors and screeners are currently discussing the rules mentioned above

and the help text says
for
SPECIAL
====
If the photo is picturing an aircraft with a special colorful paint scheme, mark this box. This only includes rare paint schemes that are limited to one or a few aircraft.
For other unusual paint schemes like hybrids or special markings, choose the Hybrid / Special Markings button instead.
Note that this is ONLY for airliners! Not for helicopters, blimps, props etc."
====
and HYBRID
====
This includes all kinds of unusual paint schemes that doesn't fit into the Special Paint Schemes category. Examples are mixtures of two airlines paint schemes (hybrids) or special markings that are limited to one or a few aircraft. Airliners without paint scheme or in an all white paint scheme should also be included here.
Note that this is ONLY for airliners! Not for helicopters, blimps, props etc.
====

Now this leaves some room for confusion. Shouldn't the help text the thing people can rely upon?

Thanks again
Peter

According to the upload help text it should be indeed "hybrid/special markings" which was also my first thought.

Will point this out to Peter (the other one  Wink ) ...

Peter, that quote had nothing to do with small special markings (which is easy to understand when looking at Peter V's descriptions + examples), full sentence was:

Quote:

The editors and screeners are currently discussing the rules mentioned above, mainly "airliners which fly in the full standard colourscheme of one company, but that are owned or operated by another company"

 Confused

Anyway, hopefully the help items will be updated soon because the info and examples Peter V posted in that thread are easier to understand.

So as long as the help items are not updated they are the ones to follow when uploading?

Please follow the new guidelines (see Peter V's thread) and upload it as special paint.

Wouldn't it be a good idea to link to this thread then from the upload confirmation page? The current state is a bit confusing i think.
I am sure there are more examples then just the one i came across.
Just to avoid NOA_category rejections for a lot of people.

The upload help boxes will be updated to reflect the recent changes. In the meantime we have to live with some confusion unfortunately.

Don't think there will be info rejections, just look at the stats you provided above:
9 of the 30 have colorful selected
3 of the 30 have hybrid selected
and the rest doesn't have any of the 2 categories.
