Garbage Weather - Any Hope?

I went to significant effort today to drive up to Worcester/ORH to catch the last departure of Allegiant Air from that city. The event was more significant than just an airline pulling out of an airport, as Worcester is left without scheduled passenger service as a result of this event.

Hurricane Ernesto's remnants passed over us this weekend, and the worst weather from the storm seemed to hit right around flight time. The area around the terminal was so fogged in that you could barely see the airplane taxi in, much less get a decent photo. The conditions were better out at the end of Runway 11, but it was still horrible, rainy weather. Here's the best shot I could manage in the conditions:

Frankly, the picture turned out better than I thought it would, but that's not saying much. This is one of those shots that under different conditions I'd bag and wait for a better day. However, it will probably be a number of years before I or anybody else gets a chance to shoot a mainline jetliner in Worcester. What do you think? Any chance of this one making the cut?

Nope. I sincerely doubt it.

Sorry John, but quality wise, it's way off for here. Pity about the weather, better luck next time hey?!

Ah well - as I suspected. Thanks for the replies. I imagine there was a good bit of rain covering the lens by the time I snapped this picture, plus the fog didn't help. However, you have to admit my submitted shot of the flight's departure is better than the one I took of its arrival, and perhaps that's why I held out a glimmer of hope:

Did I mention the weather wasn't very nice that day?

I'm surprised we don't have a rejection called "Bad_Weather". I had one rejected today for contrast, and what the screener failed to realize is that the conditions were hazy. It seems they want perfect weather nowadays.

Cool photos though, I personally like seeing photos like these. A photo like that 2nd Allegiant shot are very hard to get.  bigthumbsup

I'd rather shoot BAD_MOTIVE

I upload railroad shots to a sister site of the "other" aviation site, and they do have a "cloudy" rejection reason. They will as a rule not accept a cloudy-day shot unless it's of something exceptional. They also have a "high sun" rejection reason. To get anything accepted you have to shoot in the first or last couple of hours of daylight, and only on a sunny day. Railroad pictures are generally much tougher to get than airliner pictures, so you're really limited trying to get stuff accepted there.
