Hi All,

Thinking of heading over to Dublin to catch up with some mates. Was wondering if anyone had any tips with regards to spotting in Dublin or better still, if someone was willing to spot with me on a week starting 30/10/06.

Cheers,

Glenn Stewart

DUB used to be excellent Glenn around the Southern perimeter, where there were a couple of spots that allowed an unobstructed view. However it's nearly 12 months since I've been across and I understand there is a new high perimeter fence now. I would like to know to what extent this affects photography though myself, as it is one of my favourite trips. Perhaps Fergul is your best bet.

Regards,

Tim.

As impressed with the Aer Lingus website as the cheap fare. Very, very good!!!

I'm booked on the following:

EI155 LHR-DUB Wed 01/11/06 10:05-11:20
EI184 DUB-LHR Fri 03/11/06 20:10-21:25

Wouldn't mind doing some early afternoon spotting on the 1st  Smile

Morning Glenn,

I'm only around 100 miles north of Dublin, I could certainly be persuaded to make it down if you wanted!

Do a search on this site, as the question about spotting at DUB / photos at DUB has been asked and answered umpteen times in the relatively recent past.

On another note, I'll be in DUB with fellow netter MYT332 in December. Anyone fancy showing us around the city?!  Wink Day and night...

Take plenty of lolly with you then Justin! Last time I was there it was 5 feckin Euros for a pint of the black stuff that's made across the road!!!

Dub's a great town though and, like the Murphy's - I'm not bitter!

Regards

John

The new security fence opposite the runway 28 lineup point has indeed spoiled things, and the road that runs alongside is extremely busy, with a level of trucks etc. that it is really not suited for.

If you are prepared to seek out spots further along the runway there are still some very good opportunities for photography. As ever, the weather is the biggest factor in deciding whether you will have a successful visit from the photography point of view.

I was trying to find a spotterswiki article with info. But my main reason for asking was that I'd love a chance to catch up with local spotters. Us Aussies tend to put the social ahead of the photography, and I suppose the Irish are similar in this respect  Smile

Hi Glenn
Yes the Irish guys are very nice!I was there 3 weeks ago.

No problems with local police.Best vantage points on rwy28 there is a small hill but its a good idea if you take a small ladder with you to avoid getting the fence in the middle!!Guiness here is the best beer you can find followed by Smithwicks and Kilkenny  Wink..You have about 10-15mins walk from the approach of 28 if you look to your left you see the ILS the area for spot landing is somewhere there and you will get this result on rwy28
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1103945/M/

If rwy10 is in use you have to walk a bit on the same road to get some good landing. If you stay in the middle you might be able to take same take-off shots too!!
