First one looks nice, maybe a little soft in parts (engines), and a bit oversaturated.

Second one is just slightly oversharpened and the emirates is blurry so I'd forget about that one.

Tim

Cheers Tim for the quick reply,
when you say first one do you mean the Sunrise A340 or the SA 747 shot?

Quoting Manc (Thread starter):
my first attempt at dawn shots,

Dawn?? It was mid morning by the time you turned up.
I was hoping Dawn might have been your date last night and you had a chance to use the flash  Wink

It was still bloody dark when I turned up and I needed the flash! Apart from it being dark, getting sandblasted by the passing trucks it was a good day. I want to know where all that 50 dutch spotters were going!!

Lets see your shots then  Wink

I was up at the crack of dawn this morning!  Wink

Ian.

It's something with this shots I don't like, I don't know what it is... Hmm...

Crop of the 1st looks odd.

Sharpening and colours on the 2nd look odd.

The 3rd looks very grainy.

All taken with the 30D and 100-400L?

Yeah all with that kit. You have to remember it was just at sunrise and the sun is directly on the nose. Hence the thread here just to see opinions as its not the usual criteria I shot or upload.

These two taken later in the day in good conditions

I know that.

But AFAIK, A.net do not care how the conditions were, just that the shot is good.

But, if you don't want to upload them, they are still not nice IMO.  Silly
