It's nice to see that screeners have been stepping outside the rigid walls of the box that are the acceptance criteria for this site by accepting shots like these possible "distance/motive" rejections:

"Distance" because the aircraft is so small in the frame.
"Motive" because the question really has to be asked: What is the primary motive of the shot, the background or the aircraft? In all of these it is obviously the background. But they were still accepted...and thankfully! This has been proven by their heavy hits, comments and popularity. I would like to see screeners step outside the box on a more regular basis and add more shots like these:

(motive/people)

Great shot..and another heavy hitter as discussed in another thread.

We might consider that the popularity of these shots represents regualr site visitors yearning for something different on a more regular basis.

Yes its called an artistic category but none of the crew want a bar of it but everyone is screaming out for it.

The site can only benefit from these type of shots.

On a side note I love Spencers shot, makes me feel nice and warm with that sky!

Apart from the last shot these are not at all outside the box. Great shots? Yes. But this is the stuff we tend to accept.

It's not that we don't want these shots, it's that these shots tend to be rare because not many people shoot them, not our fault!

Great shots like this should always get in, no need for an "artistic" category which would only be used to show crappy crops anyway Wink
