I'm going to be in Sydney next week, mostly work but I expect to have the weekend of 21-22 Oct free. What sort of weather can I expect at this time of year? (If that sounds like a daft question, I've never set foot in Australia before except in transit.) Any local SYD photographers planning a visit to the airport that weekend?

Charles

Next weekend their is quite a big Airshow on in Sydney(Richmond Air Show) so should be plenty of spotters from interstate down for that so quite a few will be probably doing some shooting at Sydney airport as well,Airshow is about 45minutes from Sydney.

Just bring shorts and T shirts as its bloody Hot!

Have a look at the YSSY Spotters Wiki page for info.

Also, as Mark said, the Richmond Airshow is taking place on the 21/22. Official website here, and public transport info here.

Cheers,
Gabriel

Thanks for the replies guys. How nice of the RAAF to organise an airshow for me -- and at such short notice too! Big grin

Regarding the spotterswiki info on SYD, am I correct in assuming that it is not possible to get to Qantas Drive and Shep's Hill via public transport? What about the Beach?

Thanks,
Charles

If your Staying at Hotel/motels near the airport than Qantas Drive 16R/L approaches and Tower Mound can be accessed if your up for abit of walking....Wouldnt recommend the walk if its real HOT!

Beach is a decent hike to walk unless your staying at Novetel.

I probably wont be out there next w/e but sure if you post on the Sydney Message Board that your planning a visit sure someone can give you a lift to a few of the locations...

It was great meeting you too Mark. Thanks for the offer, it's very much appreciatted by a novice like myself. I might add a couple of my rejected pics to my profile so you can see if I'm actually moving forward or if I'm beyond help lol. Unfortunately I don't yet have a pic in the db for comparison. Sad

Hi,

I hope it's alright that I ask in this topic and don't open a new one...
Is anybody of the locals in SYD at the airport on the 11th and 12th of November?
That's the weekend I like to do some spotting...

Best regards
Christoph
