Dear Chad,
My answer is NO, thank you. I need HiRes file for editing and printig

Well ___________,
Since I said that I would PAY for shipping of the print (included in
price) it leaves me thinking you had a clandistine motive here. Why
would anyone give up a hi-res version... for free?! You have a lot to
learn.
Good day. Please dont email me with Bullshit like this anymore.

What exactly do you call it then? Of course I sent him my asking price. It probably didnt matter if I did or didnt as he was dead set on me giving him the file for free. I wasted my time, as Enrique stated.
that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that unless there is more conversation that we're not seeing (as in, perhaps on a price sheet), then he might not have known that you were paying for shipping. I couldn't tell...
It's quite possible, even likely that you wasted your time with this dude. But it's also possible that there was a simple miscommunication.

Cosec,
you got it.
The only miscommunication involved was the word pay wasn't in his vocabulary.

Quoting Cosec59 (Reply 12): Maybe, just maybe it's included in the pricing info.
Which is EXACTLY WHAT I WAS ASKING!!! My fellow wolverine could have just said "it was included in the pricing info" especially after I asked if it was included in the pricing info... Some people want to be cute though.
Quoting D L X (Reply 7): did you send him a price sheet on an attachment that said it?

dlx,
the point was that he wanted the hi res so he could print the photo himself. No way was I going to give it to him. He was just using the shipping thing to to try to help in getting it. I included the shipping price in the overall price, even a bit less than I normally ask... (gotta put food on the table ya know )

I think the person in the wrong here is you.
The bloke is asking for a file, not a print. In his second email he makes it clear, twice, and he's considering paying. In his third post he makes it clear (and English isn't his first language) that he wants a file, not a print, so that he can edit it and doesn't have to pay for shipping etc. Instead of politely telling him that you're only willing to send a print (presumably to reduce the chance of theft), you shout and swear at the guy.
His first language clearly isn't English, yet the one who doesn't understand what's being asked is you. Hopefully others on this forum have more of a knack of making money than you.

@ 777236ER - I don't know if I would lecture Chad on how to make money from photos. He has had more sales for more money than a vast % of people on this site.

Chad, I wouldn't try to tell you how to handle your photo sales but in this case I think you and "your buddy" were talking at cross-purposes. As 777236ER supposed, I guess the guy was really only looking for a file and not a print so he could maybe edit it for his own needs. Also this would not have cost him a thing as you could have sent it via e-mail (if you agree to send free files for personal use is another story ).
It was probably just a misunderstanding which the guy was unable to get over due to a language barrier.

Now if i´m not mistaken, that is the story all along. Chad didn´t want to give him a full res size for free, because he feared that the guys wouldn´t just print a poster from it, right?

That's it! You people have stood in my way long enough. I'm going to clown college!

I hear what you're saying, and I pretty much agree. If someone were to ask me for a file, they'd be suspect. His purpose was 95% probably impermissible.
I just wasn't clear that he knew that you had solved his shipping problem by providing a suitable alternative. Now I am. (Well, I'm sure you told him. I am not sure he understood.)

Lets be real here. Most people wouldn't pay the price of a hi res file and in my limited experience offering a print has had positive results. To me the initial email sounded like he wanted it for free as he didn't state he would be willing to pay for the file. When I offered him a print he asked for the price. Furthermore he stated that he didn't want to pay for shipment of a print. I did include shipping in my overall price and told him that. The price of the print was cheaper than I normally charge. To me the whole kaboodle sounded fishy.
Florian, you are absolutely correct, what works for me may not work for you or anyone else. I can live with the possibility I blew a sale because I didn't feel right about it... I can only imagine that its easier than say getting burned because I was careless.
