Hi !
when I had the 30D for some weeks I noticed much more noise (ISO 200) at a perfect blue sky, than the 350D and the 400D.
Is there anybody who made the same conclusion ?

I had quite a bit of noise on my 300D at 200 iso the other day and I was shooting against a bright blue sky and then into the sunset, so I was kinda confused as well.

Quoting LGW (Reply 10): None of the firmware updates which Canon have released have addressed the problem of high ISO noise.
...do you think the 30D really has a high noise problem ? I never heard user in special forums talking about high noise when using a 30D. My 30D I used to have, had some noise at dark blue sky...I´m not really sure, but I think my former 350D hadn´t...Maybe my 30D was not OK....like the 400D I just gave back yesterday: It produced very soft pictures without any details...reason unknown.

Ben,
Im really surprised the place you bought it from didn't take the camera back for exchange. I had mine for about a month, made a call and told them I wasn't happy with the high noise levels (They knew about the issues on some of the cameras) and exchanged it, no questions asked. It was 2 weeks after the return period expired.

Yes I am surprised too, problem was they immediately shifted the problem to Canon who, surprise surprise said there wasn't a problem (like I expected anything else from them)
Like I said, my new copy has been great, much better than the first one which had issues with grain even at lower ISO settings. Thats about all I can say on the subject.
