A J Best asked me to do this post:
At last Saturday, the 4th of November, a lot of photographers turned up spotting at Heathrow, close to "The Hats". Tony B., which was one of the photographers, came with his camera and a tripod, and wanted to get a group shot of all the photographers staying close to the hats... And he did it! Just called a guy named Robbie, a local spotter, and he shot a few times for Tony.
Tony sent us a mail with the photo, and here you go, a lot of LHR spotters... The only A.netters on the photo were:
Antony J Best, standing nr. 3 from right, with sunglasses.
David A Chapman, ducking nr. 3 from right, with black camera.
Me, David A Eliasson, ducking nr. 4 from right, with a black camera with a white lens

That's a great shot. Thanks for sharing some comraderie. Much better than all the bickering about motiv, white balance and jaggies which seems to dominate A.Net. -Pete

hi, i like the group photograph. .was hoping to get to LHR last weekend too. Was wondering where abouts 'the hats' area is and if there is car parking there. Might be a spot to head for and be among fellow enthusiasts

Thats what its all about. Even LHR gets boring, so always good to have a chat and a laugh about the good old days or the only cloud of the day taking the one aircraft you had gone for!
And as you can see form the photo the sun was out, so all very happy photographers & Dog!

I am a LHR regular myself. I recognise many of those people in that picture!
I go on most Saturdays with my turquoise AEROFLOT bag and my Fuji S5600 camera.
I was there Nov. 4--but when I got there that day, I prepared to shoot a photo--only to have the camera tell me, "NO CARD"! I had totally forgotten to put my card back in my camera beforehand!
So I did not hang out there that day due to having no card in my camera. Otherwise I would have very likely been in that shot!

Quoting Aero145 (Thread starter): Hmm must get up to LHR and se all those familiar faces some time soon!
'Airport side' photography is restricted at most international airports I have been to. Whats the security policy like at LHR? Would love to visit Summer 07

Was on the roundabout by the old road crossing point all day sheltering behind that green metal structure from the freezing wind (atleast by Ghana standards)...... Green bag, white lens...

If you're pretty tall, I might have seen you. I drove by that place about 6 times.
Regards,
David
PS: Freezing wind by Ghana standards, probably...
Funny, I was amazed by the heat! That's of course with the Iceland standards. In the wind yesterday night, the temperature was -30°C. Of course, if there had been no wind, it would have been -5°C.
