Unfortunately, neither photo will make it.
The DJ shot is backlit, soft, and grainy, and it appears to have a blue-ish colour cast. While most of the problems could be fixed with careful editing, the backlighting remains a problem. The simple solution is to reshoot with the sun positioned correctly.
As for the FedEx shot, the overall quality isn't the best, with softness in some places and jaggies in others. Also, the sky is quite grainy (again, preventable with selective sharpening) and it seems to have a greenish colour cast.

Hi Brett - welcome to the forum... Both look a bit soft and grainy to me. Did you scan these or do they come from a digital camera?
The Fedex is also slightly overexposed (which causes a loss of detail in the white sections). You'd see plenty of examples in the database of similar pictures that are just much sharper, and that happens to set the standard...
Not very helpful but anyway...
