Sunday is also ok; but the weather will take the decision for you anyway. With an overcast sky and possibly some mist or snow showers you'll be very limited in your photo opportunities.

Fridays are probably second-busiest, but the Russians have also arrived on Thursdays in the past. The first weekend in January sees the heaviest charter traffic of the winter, but it's worth bearing in mind that Salzburg has a bigger share of the Russian invasion during the same period.

Hi LIPH,

As said by Robin, JAN 2nd and 3rd will be busiest with approximately 23 Russians (mostly Yak42's) expected (< which doesn't stand, probably a few less will actually turn up.)

This year we have new scheduled flights by HLX, Thomsonfly and Sibir S7...quite some non-eurowhite schemes!

Other than that, the usualy business... SAT busiest, SUN 2nd.

LIPH, AirKas1 and myself will be in town the weekend after, 6th and 7th (flying in on the 5th, out on the 8th).

Thanks for the info - I was basing my input on what happened at SZG last year. Looks like INN might actually be better this year?

Anyway, anybody can check http://www.salzburgspotters.at/index.php?lang=en and choose for themselves which airport is more interesting. I heard INN usualy has better weather than SZG  Wink

Heads up to the Local spotterscene, which cover those 2 airports so well in terms of Information about charteractivity and upcoming special visitors!!
