I am posting this thread to get a feel for how aviation photographers here on A.net like Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 (PSE 5) or Corel Paintshop Pro X (PSP X) or XI (PSP XI). Please feel free to post both the pros & cons for whichever of the 2 programs you use. I myself am using PSE 5, but after chatting with someone who uses PSP X, it seems that PSP X (and now PSP XI) have a few more options than PSE 5. One of the features that comes to mind is the ability to use layer masks.
It looks like the majority of people on A.net post-process photos using the full version of Adobe's Photoshop, but with both PSE 5, PSP X, and PSP XI being more budget friendly (both available for download around $50-$70 USD) than Adobe PS, then maybe the following discussion will provide some insight on which program someone might be interested in purchasing.
For me it boils down to whether I should dump PSE 5 and go for PSP XI. I would love to have the most curetn version of PS, but I am saving my hard earned $$ to purchase a nice 70-200mm f/2.8 lens.

- somewhat hardware hungry; I've a P4 with a 2.8GHz CPU and 1GB RAM and I guess that's about the least (irrespective of what's written on the box) you should have to run it smoothly especially if you run some additional programs in the background
