The nose is soft, the contrast is off a bit and I would also set it lower in the frame.

Yup, more sharpness and more contrast; on the other hand it needs less empty space below the fuselage and less jaggies.

Is this version any better? Do you really think it is too high in the frame? enough to be rejected?

It looks blurry to me so you've had to sharpen it quite a lot to compensate. Its oversharpened in the 2nd shot. I don't think this will make it whatever you do, sorry.
