I don't think there is much technical difference between 400D and XTi.

In my eyes the Rebel XTi ist the 400D, correct me if I'm wrong. The 350D is calles Rebel XT and the 300D is called Digital Rebel in North America and I don't know where else.

Cheers,
Sebastian

That's correct.

I have no idea why the different labelling, to my mind 350D/400D sounds professional, Rebel sounds like a bad marketing campaign, and Kiss (wherever it is called that) is just plain stupid!

I can't find the article concerned, but in Japan the 'Kiss' branding was pretty logical. If I recall, canon produced the EOS300 as a lightweight, well featured 35mm SLR that would be popular with Japanese women and newcomers as a 'handy' introductory SLR.

It takes a big man to admit they are wrong, and I am not a big man.

This whole XT and XTi sounds so silly. When does the "Turbo Intercooler WRX" version come out? Big grin The Canon "even Rebeller". hehe... The designers must have worked for Toyota before joining Canon.

Not according to Canon UK website it isn't
I would venture to suggest that if you see Rebel XT or XTi on sale in the UK they are US destined product being grey marketed.
It would be very wise to check carefully the warranty situation if you were thinking of buying one!

Oh just wait for the Rebel Xti "Pro" to come out... then the names will get beyond a joke.

I am personally holding out for the Digital Rebel Xti Pro XWB ER to come out.

Most likely. Although they will still be covered by the one year manufacturer's guarantee. When I bought my 300D a couple of years ago, one high street retailer (and only them) were selling black bodied ones, which weren't available in the UK at the time, which had been sourced in Germany.

Regards,

Tim.
