Took some shots in the snow today. Just wondered what you think. Thanks

The crop looks a bit odd, especially the first shot.

Both motive for both; you've cropped too much of the plane(s) off!

How is the first one an odd crop? It's showing the nose and a slightly different angle on the fuselage

Try and find a very very simular photo on Airliners.net...

You've taken off too much from the left, it's just not attractive.

If so, it may be rejected due to 'center'.

Here is a question not based on the above photos, but just photos in general. I have a tamron 75-300 lens that I bought way back in 2002. I just recently upgraded to a used but in very good condition Canon 300D. Could it be the lens that is causing some issues, or do you think it is the camera body itself?

Jet,
nice pictures there (some quality issues probably to fix but nothing of impossible), but with quiet an unusual crop....

Ciao

What do you see and any suggestions on it?

Could be a mixture of things, for example settings, weather conditions or your lens.

Your not using Auto, are you?

Auto settings or auto focus? I wasn't using auto focus, however i was using the sport auto setting today. I am still not used to manually setting the camera. I need some help with that. I've given it a try a few times, but I just get frustrated with it.

I strongly suggest getting advice on Manual settings, and I'd use Auto Focus If I was you, too.

It sounds like you definitely need to be using AutoFocus. As far as the manual setting of the camera goes, you don't need to go that far just yet. Try using either the Av or Tv mode where you'll only have to set the desired aperture or the shutter speed. Once you get comfortable with that you might want to shoot manually, but IMO that's a rather tricky business and a light meter is recommended here, I don't see how else you would do it.

Cheers,
Sebastian
