Hi all

I would like to know why these two were rejected for quality (note: quality was the only rejection reason).

Don't care too much about the first one, but I quite liked the second one. Any salvation tips?

Thanks!

Hi Ward,

they are both over sharpened and lack contrast. I'm assuming the screener just bagged the two together into a quality rejection.

In the second one, you listed the 747 as the aircraft pictured, but it is blocked by the 757. I would call that a motive rejection. It's also not level.

Thanks guys, but now it's even less clear to be honest. Contrast, Sharp, Motive/Info and Level are the comments I'm getting, next to the "Quality" from the screener. In that second shot I honestly don't see an issue on any of those points mentioned.

Because it's not an everyday sight I want to retry at least that second pic. Can a screener explain what to improve please? Oh, and would it be OK to list the 747 as the main subject, or should it be the 767 or the 330?

Many thanks!

But quality can be easily used because the shot does contain serval faults which can be hard to fix when rejected but 2nd one does seem to suffer with distance of aircraft in frame and can see the distance effects the quality especially on 744 so do think listing that as main subject wouldnt get it accepted.

The Angle of 767 doesnt look appealing as main subject is backlit and have quality Issues and KAL A330 is obstructed by 767 and lacks quality as well with distance so overall i dont think it would stand a chance.

And yes does look like its leaning abit to right so abit of CCW might help but overall unless screeners can advise you i dont think it would stand much of a chance.

After I got two rejected for Quality and one of those accepted on appeal I would like to know your opinion on this one out of four rejected for Quality (3 are really not that good but I do not see a problem with this one).

Quoting Jorge1812 (Reply 5):

It is blurry and then oversharpened. Look at the reg, it glows white from the oversharpening.

I've had an overview shot similar to this one accepted about half a year ago (several planes, main subject being far away). Admitted, it didn't have obstructed views, but I don't think the distance is automatically an issue in shots like this one. Besides, you always have to select a plane in the picture that is identifiable. I didn't intend it to be a "picture of the 747" or "picture of the 767", but an overview. The question is which one to select, as I asked before. Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

Enough clues that this is a no go. I still don't know what can be done to get this accepted (if anything). But it's going in to the bin now.

Thanks all.

Its not much of airport overview,it just shows 4 planes, mountains and hanger so i would say its more focus on aircraft(Air PAc 767) being main subject as other 2 are obstructed ans suffer quality issues worse than Air Pac which is backlit and has quality issues as well.
I think its one personal collection but maybe others have better advice.

Hi Ward,

Sorry, but by all means this is not an airport overview, it's a picture where the main focus point (the Air Fiji 767?) is in the center but far away (distance). While it wasn't rejected for that (I think the screener at least gave you the chance for this crop), the distance to the main subject makes the overall quality of it to be less than A.net would accept.
In my eyes I would have rejected it for motive, quality and category (if you selected airport overview).
That said, I don't think it is necessarily a picture to forget about. The quality problems are fixable (sharpness, contrast), so I would make up my mind what you really want to show, crop accordingly and don't forget you have to list the nearest airplane!

Just sit back, relax and have a glass of Merlot...enjoy your life!
