Hi folks,

Just for the info - rather unusual case for Russia - airport orginized free spotting for the whole local photographer's community. 92 spotters registered but only about 60 participated (May 22 was the working day).

Domodedovo is the only private airport at Moscow area and their reason are obvious - they decided to make at as informational event. And it had worked - at least 3 TV channels (two national) made reports on event. So, Domodedovo got additional advertizing and we got sudden freedom  Wink and good abilities to make spotting without hide on bushes and neighbouring forests from police and aviation security.

Hope they will continue their practice - at least as they promised.

I hope there will be some shots at Airliners.Net soon - they are upcoming. For your attention I'd like to present pictures of not A.Net standards - it just a brief report on event.

Regards,

Fyodor

Very nice to hear that! In a time when more and more airports close their doors to photogs, you guys got this. Congratulations! I hope it will act as an example to other airports aound the globe. BTW, interesting pictures on that forum

Great to see. I hope that you can all now stand and watch planes and be able to wave at the security rather than having to run and hide.

How did it work on the day? Were you restricted to one part of the apron?

WoW, that was the coolest I've heard of. Wish they could have more open days at airports for pre-registered visitors.

Great to see you have that opportunity, Fyodor. Thank you for posting the link to the photos. Some great shots, lots of variety of planes, and good close-ups. It's worth a trip from the states for a day like that. And a lot of ladies out there, too, although the one looks like she's more interested in flowers.

As I talked to DME people they plan to hold some more events like this. So, as soon as I get dates - I'll post the message regarding the case and you probably will be able to attend.
