Hey guys, I just got back from SXM, and I got some shots that are good by my standards, but I wanted to see if any of them are worth editing, and possibly uploading, with some hope of getting accepted.

Here are the ones I think are my best:

Is there any hope for ANY of these??? I'm so proud of them, but I honestly have no idea how my camera stack up with the rest.

I appreciate the input/criticism.

Thanks,
Cameron

Also crop a lot tighter, far too much space in front and behind the aircraft on all the shots.

Take care

Motive wise, I think the ATR is the best. Then again, I'm no screener  Smile

Personaly I like the KLM best, but it looks maybe slightly off centered? (note: this comment is from someone with only 7 pics in the db so don't bother reading my opinion  Wink )

As mentioned by Cameron these are unedited version, so this should easily be correctable.. But the KLM looks a bit blurry to me from the small picture, so it will probably be hard to safe it....

Thats the problem, it is hard to tell anything at the current size...
But (except the ATR) the all don't really look very appealing..

As the guys said, you need to post the images in the final size, in order to get a more accurate feedback on quality.
In my opinion, they´re not that bad, but they may have some flaws:
- Corsair 747 is overexposed, and I don´t think it can be saved.
- AA 757 is not that bad.
- DL 757 is overexposed pretty badly. The whites are blown out, maybe due to the angle of the sun on the fuselage.
- KL MD-11 looks dark, with the nose and other parts blurry.
- ATR shot seems to be the finest of all. You might need to brighten it up a little.

Hope it helps.  bigthumbsup

Wow guys, I appreciate all the input!

I suppose my question is, what should the final size be? All of those have been resized from 3072 x 2048 down to 800 x 533.

Since I'm new to photography, what is the correct size to make them?

Also, on some of these, I'm not sure which, I have done the Auto Smart Fix (bad idea, I know) in Photoshop Elements (which is currently the only photo editing software I have). I saved them as entirely different copies, for my trip report, so it's possible some of the overexposure could be as a result of that, in which case I still have the original untouched.

Thanks all!!!!! Hopefully we can maybe get at least the ATR saved!

Cheers,
Cameron

It appears to be cropped about as closely as you can crop....

I think it just appears so far away because of the obnoxiously long length of the 753.

Complete BS!  Yeah sure It's perfectly fine! IMO it's disrespectful of the photographer to use his/her photo(s) and say that they are bad once they've been accepted.

Try 1024 width, Longhorn! 800 pixels will get rejected

Post it again with the above 1024 size, and I'm sure all of us here can lend a helping hand!

Good Luck!  Smile

I quite agree. Personally, I think its time for admin to hand out some severe wrist slaps to anyone who does this in future. Comments about, and the use of others already accepted pictures to show personal dissatisfaction are plain rude, non-productive and irrelevant to the thread.

...and to get back to the thread....

We definately need to see them at 1024 wide as a minimum.

They all look a bit soft.

Corsair is too high in the frame and needs a tighter crop.

American needs a touch more contrast before sharpening.

Delta is overexposed. I don't think that one can be saved.

KLM is dark and will also need a shot of contrast. Crop a bit tighter.

ATR has the best promise but be careful you don't blow out the whites.

Ok guys, here are the originals. I know the KLM is WAYYYY too dark, and the one you saw in the previous post was after I Auto Smart Fixed it with Elements. Just a question, for the photos that are too high (or low, for that matter) in the frame, what do you suggest? If I crop off part of the bottom, won't it ruin the 3:2 aspect ratio? In that case, what is best? Thanks for the help guys!

Do you have the original files at full size? If yes, you can email them to me and I would be more than happy to give you step by step instructions on how I edited them. They are ok shots, but still need proper editing to be acceptable.

Yes I do, I'll drop you a line on the airliners.net e-mail, and we can exchange email addresses from there. Thank you so much!
