On Friday, the vintage P-38 Lightning fighter will depart from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey to finish what it started in 1942: a trans-Atlantic flight to England. Anyone going to try to be there and get some pics of this beautiful aircraft?

Good spreading the word Romeo
And for those of you in England, it's supposed to make an appearance at the airshow in Duxford in early July and then return to the U.S. in time for an appearance at Oshkosh.
I hope to see some shots of her too...so much effort was made to recover her from the ice and get her flying again!

The "Glacier Girl" / USAAF serial 41-7630 did made it to Europe!! After recovering from the glacier in 1992 it arrived Aalborg in Denmark by ship. There it was transferred to a small coater, to be sailed to Gothemburg in Sweden and reloaden in a container ship bound for USA.

I was fortunate enough to spend quite a bit of time with Glacier Girl at KTEB over the past two days. I got quite a few shots of her and event that surrounded her departure this afternoon. Some pics from Thursday ...
Brad McManus the last surviving member of the ill fated flight being interviewed.
Steve Hinton (pilot of Glacier Girl), Brad McManus (last survivor of the ill fated flight), and Ed Shipley (pilot of Miss Velma) being interviewed for TV.
I'll add a few more from Friday's event when they are processed later today.

As was written in an other thread, Glacier Girl has engine problems. As far as I know, it won't come to Duxford, just back to Oshkosh after engines have been swapped.
The Sovereign, Pilatus and Mustang "Miss Velma" came to RKV today (Sovereign actually yesterday). They were due at 3:30, so I stayed awake, but the Pilatus came at 2:45 so I went to my garden and grabbed some shots of Miss Velma. The majority was blurry, so I don't know if I can upload anything to A.net, but I'll try.
Here's one blurry shot...
Blurry - it was quite dark (around three am!), I was shaky 'cause of exitement, 170mm, 1/50th.
Well, cannot fix that. I'll be heading to the ramp later today (8:30am) to get some static.
