Priority Upload - Inconsistency?

Hello,
today I saw the first photos of VC-10 VX105 with its nice special coloured tail in the database, taken on July the 17th at Kleine Brogel. Obviously these photos got priority screening.
I have no problems with that at all as this is clearly stated in the according rules, but I would like to ask the Screeners why other photos of military aircraft with special markings do not get this 'special treatment'.
E.g. I have uploaded the Hellenic Air Force s/c Hercules taken at Fairford and it is still in the queue though that photos has been uploaded some days before and I did send an eMail as well?

Regards

Very interesting topic.

I had a similar experience one week ago. Delivery of the Eurofighter for the Austrian Air Force. Before uploading the pics i sent a mail to the headscreeners asking if the pics would be considered priority worth because in theory the would fall under the category New type for a new operator and there where no pics in the database yet. Answer from headscreeners was "No" .
A friend of mine just uploaded his shot and mailed the screeners asking for priority screening and voila the shot got added in no time. Asking later on why the shot was added although i have got negative feedback i got the answer: "It was an error". Fair enough, errors can only happen where people are actually working, but why not make the rules clear across the team to avoid such errors? This should be one of the easier tasks.

MUCspotter,
I do not kow anything about yours and have certainly not seen a priority request for it - it would certainly appear to qualify for priority if the special markings are substantial and it does not seem to be on the db at present.

Peter, your probem was discussed within the crew and it was a genuine mistake. You wrote to the Headscreeners asking their opinion. They gave it but failed to pass it on to the other screeners. You took their advice and did not submit it as priority. Your friend actually did what the priority text says and sent an e-mail to screeners (as opposed to Head Screeners).
Not being aware of the advice you had been given it was added by someone.

At that point the argument stops I think.

But the errors could be minimized if you make the rules clear which should be fairly easy for priority.
Just add the sentence "All the rules only apply for civil operators and types" then it is clear.
Now there is just room for errors. Special markings are considered priority (which is ok because they generate interest) but new types for existing operators (which does not happen that often in the military area, and therefore might generate even more interest) and also new colours for existing (non civil like for example Police choppers) operators are not ?
Just make it an even playground and apply all the rules for all types of operators or clearly exclude military stuff from the priority rules.
This would eliminate the possible reasons for errors.

It is fairly "substantial" and is not currently in the database. If that qualifies, can you make mine priority as well? Big grin

At least just as substantial as the VC-10, as with both it's just the tail.

The discussion is really appreciated, and thanks Mick for your eMail!
I hope that this will help to overcome such missunderstandings in the future.

Advantage? I bet that if you had a shot that qualified for priority you would upload it as priority...

Don't use an option that's available to them? Why not?

Hi all

It has been pointed out that this was a genuine mistake.

All priority requests to be forwarded to screeners@airliners.net for consideration.

Gary
