Whilst the dark category debate is ongoing, can I ask for some advice on this shot? It was taken at 21.30,not before official sunset time, but certainly after the sun had gone down over the mountains.Image is as shot apart from resize.

Andy, take a look at the shadows on the ground; they are still clearly visible and pretty long so the sun had to still be above the horizon, ergo no "dark" category!
Also I fear for a motive rejection for this shot as the main motive, namely the yellow Beech, is completely out of focus; very nice photo anyway but most probably not for A.net.
Well, I have not seen any 'debate', the screeners have clearly defined what's dark and what's not. As Thierry said,
Quoting ThierryD (Reply 1): shadows on the ground; they are still clearly visible and pretty long so the sun had to still be above the horizon
, which is the best indication that the sun is still visible.
Just if there is still some confusion:
Sun still visible (see any shadows?) => NOT dark category
Sun not visible any more/not yet (no shadows) => dark category
Hope it helps!
