Plane Spotting At Heathrow

With all the recent activity at Heathrow (Climate Camp) is it still ok to go plane spotting and taking pictures at Heathrow from the perimeter fences.

If so does anyone know the best place to watch from.

Also is the Heathrow Academy open at the weekends and does it have the viewing platform yet?

Hatton Cross is where I have always gone presuming they are landing in that direction . Also for watching take offs then the area near to the Marriott hotel (perimeter road) is also good.
