Operating LZ496, a TU-134, reg LZ-TUG according to BAA Cirius system. I wouldn't have noticed but for the fantastic noise on take-off. I thought they had retired most of them and passed the rest to Albanian Airlines.

No, I didn't get a picture and there was a thunderstorm at the time so I just saw the shape in the pouring rain. Typical.

That looks like the one.....I saw it on finals as I was heading away from LHR in the sunshine at about 1300.If I had waited another 10 mins at LHR I would have had a photo!

Then I guess that the fantastic noise was the thunderstorm - think before you judge  Big grin Big grin

With so many comments about the rainy UK weather sometimes I wonder were do you brits have space to store such enormus quantity of water. Don't you have floods?

Yes! We have those too. All part of the climate we know and love.

Anyway, a bit of standing water on the runway always looks good on a takeoff shot!

Hey, the floods are no joke ... this is getting to be a seriously wet country. The REAL joke is we still manage to have water shortages most summers  Smile

Cheers,

Well, I will make a trip to LHR this weekend in hope of more of the same. Balkan often use the same aircraft regularly. They must have the most variety of schemes of any airline to LHR. Last Sunday they sent a TU-154 with a dark blue tail with OM- reg. I've also seen an all green one recently. 134s are like gold dust now to me.

Plus, I think this Saturday is the last Avianca service though I can't be sure.

I'm also taking an inflatable raft just in case.

Correction : last AV016 looks like being Saturday 2 Nov.

Fredrik, by the law of averages if it is sunny when an aircraft lands here you can be sure it will be wet when it leaves. I actually mis-typed; what I meant to say was that the 134 had a fantastic nose.

I'm impressed by this forum. You put a posting and find several others were in the same area as you at that time.

Hi all,

I also saw that particular aircraft, (but departing from SOF in the morning).

I also got that Balkan aircraft with the OM- registration, but then, I got arrested by the local 'police heros' here at SOF. With that aircraft I'll remember my last spotting trip to my home airport.

About arresting me is a long and interesting story, that I'll put in the photography forum later.

Sorry about the qualitym but the police took the film from my camera, but I also got a picture of LZ-TUG with my point&shoot Pentax camera.

Ivailo Sokolov,
