I don't own one, but a friend has one on a D2H for aviation and wildlife photography and he loves it.

CUSTOMER SERVICE & SUPPORT
I was also looking at this lense to replace my 75-300 Tamron. I've read 100's of reviews and all of them are positive with one downside -- the weight.
I heard the optical quality throughout the focal range is great for the price. I hope to own this lense by Christmas.
Lighten up while you still can, don't even try to understand, just find a place to make your stand and take it easy

I am going to buy this lens in a few months, probably.
All the reviews I've read are positive, as stated above, but many complain about the weight and about lens creep.
For the price, though, you can't really beat it.
