The first thing my eyes saw was the cropped "nwa" logo - I would have included the logo in its entirety - the mods are probably going to get you for motive with this one.
On top of that, the tip of the nose has lighting issues. To the left of the cockpit windows the light is great, to the right it's not good.
Would also say that it needs just a hair of CCW rotation.
Hope this helps.

AVL, thanks for your thoughts.

Wouldn't fit, my lens couldn't poke through the chainlink so I was limited as to what focal length I could use. I got the WA and part of the N. I figured I would try to keep the whole word of "Airlines" and the compass logo.
This hasn't stopped others before, though... There's plenty of cropped logos in the category not even including Northwest. I agree they could but it's not something I'm worried about.

Time of day. It's early evening hours and the sun has moved just enough so that part of the nose was tilted just so as to be not in direct light. That was the part I was worried about but I don't think it's not fixable... Since I tend to go a little overboard on the contrast sometimes, I cut it back a bit in a new edit. The evening light tends to be contrasty as is, it doesn't need my help. The NW paintscheme isn't helping either, as I'm sure if it was white it would help. I also don't think it's a big dealbreaker... it reminds me of these.

If you know this site at all, past photos should never be used reason for your photo to be accepted. However, if the photo is good quality wise (Im at my work computer), then I don't see too much of a problem with the crop.

This goes against what I've read of "look at the database for what is acceptable." Otherwise it's like trying to hit a moving target. I'm not saying my photo should be accepted because those ones were, just that I felt OK with taking the risk.
Your shot looks ok to me. The cropped logo doesn't bother me that much (and I'm not saying that because I "got away with it" in the first NWA shot you posted as example). You never know what the screeners think of it though...

Quoting Dvincent (Reply 2): would agree. I made an edit by adding .2 CCW and using a lighter contrast curve in my RAW converter (lightroom).
My pleasure, and remember - the hardest criticism comes from us members, not the screeners. On numerous occasions I have been told not to upload photos by the general member consensus, yet uploaded anyway; they were accepted and stand with >1000 hits.
Go for it.

Well, it is in the queue, so we will see what the screeners think in a few days (it's great to say that, btw, the queue length has really gone down since the server debacle).

I would say that is true. I went to art school for four years and I know all about handling crit. Have to say that a.net still doesn't compare to my printmaking professor, now she could really tear into people!
