I was wondering how come it is unknown where this was taken. I mean I'm sure the photographer knows where this is but why not enter it in? If it's not in the DB then you are free to type it in manually right? I just think it would be interesting to know where planes like this are seen. Here's some more examples of great pictures of rare aircraft with unknown locations.

I know for sure some of those are taken at Chkalovsky and the Il-78 is at Engels. I think the Tu-22M is at Severomorsk.

It may have something to do with the fact that they all appear to be military aircraft, and as such it could be a military instillation, and saying where it is could result in some sort of trouble for the photographer?

Hmmm..never thought of that. But that doesn't make sense as there are plenty of pictures from these same photographers of military planes with locations listed, and the photos look like they are taken from the same location. For example:

True. Just thinking aloud. They could be in different locations though. Maybe the were not supposed to be shooting there and fear legal troubles.

That's what I always though, makes sense to me anyway.
They are stunning images, I don't really care where they were taken as long as we get to see them here.

Yea I love seeing the images, it's just interesting to me where they could be from, even though some are rather obvious.

For the sake of clarity, I think Unknown should be replaced with Withheld in such cases.
