Hi guys,
I just had a search re. the Radisson LAX and its roof terrace / bar, however the last thread is about a year old, so I figured asking again wouldn't hurt.
What's the update on the terrace, can you still get out as hotel guest? Asking because I am about to book a room along Century Blvd., and wouldn't mind this hotel of course.
If not, is there any other Hotel that could get you similar views of the hills / skyline?

Florian,
Last time I was at the Radisson was a bit over a year ago, photography was allowed, but I seem to recall a thread or two since then saying the Radisson no longer allows photography. Hopefully somebody who has been there more recently will chime in. That being said, I have stayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel which is down the street a bit from the Radisson and on the same side of Century Blvd. I have taken photos from their parking garage roof which looks out to the north. I believe you get the same background views as from the Radisson though you are not up nearly as high at the Crowne Plaza. I don't believe views/photos to the south side of LAX are possible from the Crowne Plaza as they are from the Radisson with some decent glass.

I posted this topic about a month ago, i believe. I stayed there in November and you can still spot but they have added extra railing but you can still stick your lens through the railing. I dont particularly care for how the radisson is run, they do not have very good customer service skills and they cannot handle pressure.

Florian,
can't comment on the status of the roof terrace, but I can tell you that you are probably get a better room for less money, if you go elsewhere. The Rad is old and rooms are very small compared to the other chains, like the Hilton, Marriott or Sheraton.
V.
p.s. Hotel security showed and they were not too keen about me hanging out there, even though I was a guest......
Why don't you call the manager and ask?

I was up there last week and you can spot from there.
But light is too late to get any shots because the restaurant opens at 530pm for Dinner service only.
Great views though, can see all the way up to the hollywood signs.

The Raddison is okay but not that great IMO (only good for heavies), my advise, plan to shoot from the "C" parking lot in the morning (Asian Arrivals), and "The Hill" in the afternoon for Asian and European departures. Also check out the lot behind the "Proud Bird" restaurant where you can get some lovely approach shots.

Unfortunetly daytime options are pretty limited, unless if you decide to sneek in .
I found that they don't even lock the doors so you can basically walk in if you want. (not that its the best idea)
When I was there, I actually didnt do any spotting but went inside the room and looked around. There was what appeared to be an outdoor patio on the south side which might be the place where the picts I have seen were taken.
Otherwise you would be shooting from inside thru tinted windows and possibility of glare.
The sun sets early still so its only good for watching planes while you eat or drink.
Despite that I think that booking a hotel close or at LAX is most advantageous if you want to have utmost convienience in getting around the viewing areas. Bus lines are also very close too if you decide to go that way.
Now Ive been away for a few days so you might of already decided where you wanted to book.
Best of luck.
