Quite Unique But Motive?

Hi all,

In trying to be that bit more creative I have the following image in the queue. I personally think the spray from the Baby adds drama to the image, and I'm sure this shot wouldn't get a rejection for it. I do however have another shot taken seconds after where the CRJ is shrouded in a fine mist as, in the background, the 737 roars into the air, leaving a huge trail of spray behind. I haven't got the shot handy but I would imagine this kind of motive (it almost looks like fog!) would be unacceptable, however the reason for the upload is clear with the 737 behind rotating.

Big version: Width: 1024 Height: 683 File size: 598kb

A go-go or perhaps a no-no?

Karl

Looks fine to me, on the first look your motive is capturing the CRJ with the 73 in the background. It looks fine.

If it's available, I'd really like to see the photo you're talking about. Sounds like a winner to me.

Sorry, to me it doesn't look creative, more like accidental, and is distracting. The colors look too juiced as well.

Well of course it was accidental - if it hadn't been for the BMI in the back it'd have been another regular side-on shot. However this shot, in absence (at the minute) of the more creative one taken 20 seconds later, is only to illustrate what was going on. This shot is OK for A.net, the other might not be as the CRJ is engulfed in spray.

Colour looks slightly weird but it was taken in the first few minutes after sunrise - not a lot I can do about that and fiddling in Photoshop will take away the 'natural' look of the image.

To me, the spray detracts from the quality of the shot.

Quoting JakTrax (Reply 4):
not a lot I can do about that

I f you shoot RAW, you can easily adjust the colour temperature.

To be honest colour looks OK to me - I have had 3 other pics taken seconds after this one accepted and of course the light is the same. I do shoot in RAW but I don't have the time to convert them then fiddle around with them. If the colour is slightly off I'm sure a quick session in PS could achieve something similar. I could also adjust the colour temperature in-camera but it'd take too long to get it right for each individual shot.

It's in the queue anyway so I'll let higher authority decide.....

Need to change my monitor. Put the pic on the one downstairs and the colour is a bit yellowy. Borderline but I don't really want a rejection so I've pulled it (and put something better in!)

Thanks for the responses. Going to bring the flatscreen up here I think and put this piece of sh*t downstairs!
