Cool idea, I had once thought about making a remote myself. I once tried poking the remote jack of my camera with a paperclip to connect the two poles, which set off the shutter. But this jack on the 10D en 40D is this funky plug which a bit harder to come by. So it takes some more fabrication (which have not attempted yet).

Yup, the cheapie eBay remotes are just fine.

Of course I found my Minolta long and short remote commander in a bin at a store for a dollar for each.. $2 for what on eBay for genuines would cost $60! Really made out that day.  Wink
