I am entertaining the idea of purchasing the Canon PowerShot S5 IS Digital Camera. Its a good buy at $350, I chose it because of its Shutter speed range, High resolution, ability to manually focus, and that really cool LCD.
So my question to you is...
If anyone here has this camera, what do you think?
And to all of you photo-files out there, is this a good first quality camera?
Here is a good link to Tiger direct with a bunch of specs and a video.

It's as good as you can get short of a DSLR. Under favourable light conditions it should give you a.net quality (if that's what you're after), subject always to the need to post-edit photos using Photoshop or similar high-powered editing software. You should do well with the S5.

I can only compare it to the G9, as that's the one I have. It's outstanding to say the least, the very least in fact! I have had a couple of shots uploaded with it and at 12mp it's a great camera to take on your hols along with or even instead of a DLSR.
